How do you turn a microgravity breakthrough into a business?

g-SPACE is joining Space-Edge 2025–26 as an official education partner with the Space Foundation, bringing hands-on expertise to entrepreneurs and researchers entering the space economy. The partnership bridges the critical gap between scientific possibility and commercial reality.

Dr. Ioana Cozmuta, founder and CEO of g-SPACE, will lead a focused workshop on leveraging microgravity for advanced materials discovery and manufacturing. Designed for the program’s 12-week cohort of space-economy newcomers, the module cuts through theory to equip participants with the practical frameworks and tools needed to evaluate and implement space-based innovation.

The Challenge

The space economy is approaching a turning point. Organizations that will lead are those that transform microgravity capabilities into clear, repeatable business value. Yet many companies still struggle to answer a fundamental question: Is space-based innovation actually relevant to us?

This gap exists because scientific breakthroughs and commercial viability require fundamentally different things. A researcher can prove microgravity enables remarkable materials. But that insight only becomes the core of an industry when it can be manufactured predictably, documented systematically, and executed reliably by others. The distance between “we found something that works” and “we can build a business around this” is the chasm between discovery and deployment.

What Participants Will Gain

Through Dr. Ioana Cozmuta’s workshop on materials discovery and manufacturing, Space-Edge participants will discover:

  • Strategic clarity on microgravity applications: How to evaluate whether space-based solutions actually solve your problems
  • Practical frameworks for implementation: Step-by-step approaches to designing, testing, and scaling space-enabled processes
  • Access to g-SPACE’s infrastructure: Real tools for standardizing and operationalizing microgravity data across the before-flight, during-flight, and after-flight R&D lifecycle
  • The competitive edge: How companies that understand and standardize microgravity processes gain advantage as the space economy scales
  • A bridge from possibility to impact: The systems and processes that turn experimental breakthroughs into commercial reality
